A discbound notebook uses removable binding discs instead of a spine, spiral wire, or glue to hold its pages together. Unlike a spiral or glue-bound notebook, every page in a discbound system can be added, removed, or reordered easily by hand, so the notebook adapts as your ideas change instead of staying fixed.

Each page is pre-punched along one edge and simply pops on or off the notebook's open metal discs by hand. To remove a page, gently pull it up along the punched edge rather than sideways, to avoid tearing; to add or reposition a page, press it onto the discs until it clicks into place. No tools, glue, or rebinding required.

MANIFESTE uses its own metal discs (28mm), which don't match the standard disc sizes used by Levenger Circa, Staples Arc, or TUL (typically 19mm or 38mm/1.5"). Only Maison Manifeste's own refill pages and dividers are guaranteed to fit and align correctly on the MANIFESTE discs.

The MANIFESTE notebook is A4 (8.27 x 11.69 in / 210 x 297 mm) — slightly narrower and taller than US Letter (8.5 x 11 in). It fits comfortably in most bags, sleeves, and on shelves alongside Letter-size items. Because the system is modular, you only need to carry the dividers and pages relevant to your day, not the full notebook, so the format never feels bulky in practice.

Yes — pull the page up along its punched edge, never sideways, and it releases cleanly from the discs without tearing. This is the core advantage of a discbound system over a stitched or glued notebook, where removing a page usually damages it.

The pages are 120 GSM paper, on the heavier end for an everyday notebook, and are described as no-bleed paper suited to fountain pens, gel pens, and markers. As with any paper, ink behavior can still vary with very wet nibs or heavily saturated inks.

The cover is a hardcover wrapped in natural textured paper. On Burgundy, this paper has a protective top coat that resists marks and everyday handling. On Black, Buttercream, and Chai, the paper is left uncoated and fully natural to the touch — beautiful and tactile, but more prone to visible marks or fingerprints over time, so a bit more care is recommended (avoid damp hands, store away from direct friction). If you want the most worry-free option, Burgundy's coated finish is the more forgiving choice; if you prefer a raw, natural material feel and don't mind giving it a little extra care, the other three colors offer that texture.
